If One Goes Astray

A truly captivating tale. The characters are well designed, and the writing is top notch! I loved how the language fit the story. Even though the choices were few in quantity, they felt impactful. The voice actors did an incredible job. Even after getting all three endings, I'm not quite sure that I prefer one over the others. The art was absolutely gorgeous. Thank you so much for crafting this beautiful gem of a game!

rated this a well deserved 5 stars bc i id not know how much i needed mournful, folktale, spooky appalachian sapphics until this very moment. the art is genuinely stunning, so obsessed with the different styles (the folk were rlly beautifully disturbing with the mismatched and misplaced features)!! the writing is also so compelling, all the characters are so rounded and complex, they feel really human and the complicated feelings of love, grief, and jealousy were so on point!! played through all three endings, i wasnt sure what direction this would go in but it left me feeling wonderfully unsettled <333 sound design was also perfect, the whistling was acc unnerving as hell omg
also the voice acting was so so excellent, everyone delivered to the max!!

Another absolute banger from Widdershins and team! Beautifully written, masterfully crafted spooky vibes, and some great performances by the VAs.

The perfect story to play through under a blanket on a cold, rainy October day.

YESSSSSSS I'm so glad I got to play this in full before MisterShins' stream AND got to watch it live with MisterShins' voiceover. This game was beautiful and slowly unraveling each and every twist and turn. We stan Jeanie in this house. Even if she's gone. 

Ned sweep though!! Ned is such a fun nonspoilered name ever. Whoever voiced him did amazing work wink wonk.

That said, the voice actors were ALL phenomenal. I loved hearing the dialects and dialogue read out loud. The sprites were excellent in versatility and Widder, your writing is amazing!!

I'm so glad I got to play this game. You can really tell how much love went into it. I frankly can't wait to see more from you!!

This is absolutely an amazing game, from the music, sound design, story, and visuals. I love every part of it and this was such a mystifying experience hands down. I got the three endings and man. We love you too, Laura.

When you say this is for "mature" audiences, do you mean 18+?

Beautiful work!! You really capturing the feeling of a folktale, from the haints to the drifting music. I'm always a fan of tactile backgrounds and drifting guitars, so I was charmed almost from the get-go. The creature designs on all the folk are top-notch, and I love the textured sketches for the CGs. I played through multiple endings, and enjoyed them all in different ways - all complex and intriguing.

And a special shout to the great job from all the artists and VA's! I've already been a fan of your work (and october's music), and all the folks new to me were great as well - not to mention fun to see mistershins take the stage.

Wow, this was an experience.

The voice acting was top-notch and worked perfectly with the writing. The twist with worked perfectly.  Great looking UI, the human sprites and background look pretty. The fae are legit disturbing looking, amazing! And music and sound really enhanced the mood. Everyone on the team did a great job!

Oh this was a journey, and I loved it. Did not know where it was going to take me but I just relaxed and took my time with it. The characters, and their relationships, feel real, and the choices flow really nicely from them. I tried all 3 endings, highly recommend. Congrats to the whole team on such a wonderful gem of a  VN. I particularly loved the freaky fae, that's the kind of weird I'm a sucker for (I want them as stickers, my beloveds). Awesome job!
